About Me

Welcome to Michael’s Table

I’m Michael, and I love discovering great places to eat.

Michael’s Table is a personal food review site built around a simple idea: good food experiences are worth sharing, but reviews should be honest, personal and independent.

I visit restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs and other food and drink venues and share my thoughts based on my own experiences. Sometimes that means finding a little neighbourhood gem that deserves more attention. Other times it means visiting somewhere everyone is talking about and finding out whether it really lives up to the reputation.

My aim isn’t to tell you what you should like. Taste is personal, and what I love might not be what you love. Instead, I want to give you enough information to help you decide whether somewhere is worth putting on your own list.

Honest Reviews and Real Experiences

Every review on Michael’s Table is based on my own experience of visiting the venue.

I look at the things that matter when you’re deciding where to spend your time and money. The food, service, atmosphere, presentation, value and the overall experience all matter

I’m not interested in writing reviews simply because a venue is popular or because everyone else says it’s good. Equally, I don’t go looking for reasons to give a place a bad review.

If I enjoy somewhere, I’ll tell you why.

If something doesn’t work for me, I’ll tell you that too.

And if I think somewhere is worth visiting even if it isn’t perfect, I’ll explain why.

It’s About More Than Just the Food

A great meal isn’t necessarily just about what’s on the plate.

The best dining experiences are often a combination of things — the welcome when you arrive, the atmosphere, the service, the quality of the food, the surroundings and those little details that make a visit memorable.

That’s why my reviews consider the whole experience, rather than simply judging whether a particular dish tasted good.

Of course, the food remains at the heart of what I do. I’ll talk about what I ordered, what stood out, what didn’t and what I’d consider ordering again.

But I’ll also tell you what it was like to actually spend time there.

Discovering Places Worth Knowing

One of the things I enjoy most about food is discovering somewhere new.

That might be a restaurant that’s been around for years but somehow escaped my attention, a small café tucked away in a neighbourhood, a new opening that’s generating excitement, or a bar that turns out to be somewhere I’d happily return to.

Michael’s Table isn’t intended to be a directory of every place to eat. It’s about places worth knowing about.

As the site grows, I hope it becomes a useful resource for discovering somewhere new — whether you’re looking for a casual lunch, a great dinner, somewhere for a drink, or simply inspiration for your next meal.

Independent by Choice

Michael’s Table is an independent site.

I don’t sell reviews, and businesses cannot pay to have a venue listed or to receive a more favourable review. I also don’t accept complimentary meals or products as a general practice.

There may occasionally be small complimentary items offered by a venue during a visit, such as a small bite or drink, but these do not influence what I write.

I also don’t use affiliate links, sponsored content or paid guest posts. If I recommend somewhere, it’s because I genuinely think it’s worth recommending.

Why I Do It

Ultimately, I do this because I enjoy food, discovering places and sharing experiences.

There’s something satisfying about finding somewhere genuinely good and being able to tell someone else, “You should try this place.”

That’s what I want Michael’s Table to be about. Not advertising disguised as reviews. Not trying to please every venue. And not pretending that there is one universal definition of a great meal.

Just honest opinions, real experiences and places worth discovering.
